Intimate Care
Some children who attend our DSP require support with toileting and continence.
Any child who requires adult support in this way will have an Intimate care Plan, devised by school and home. This plan will be updated regularly as needs change and will be signed by school staff, SENCO, Safeguarding Lead and parent/carer.
For safeguarding reasons any child that requires support going to the toilet or having a nappy changed, will be supported by two adults, an adult will never change a child or manage intimate care on their own.
If your child is in nappies/pull-ups, they must be provided by home, along with nappy bags, wipes and any other materials needed.
School will work with external professional to support your child's needs in this area, such as School Nurse, Health Visitors or the Knowsley Continence Team.
If you feel your child requires an Intimate Care Plan or support in this area of development, please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance.
