Makaton signs are used, always alongside speech, to support children to understand the spoken word.  Signs are very useful for children who are visual learners and helps them to develop and expand their vocabulary skills.

In the academic yer 2023-24 all DSP and LHUB staff received L1 training in Makaton from a qualified trainer. 

We focus on a sign per week and have visual representations of key marathon signs up around classrooms and the agora.
