Entry to LHUB
Entry into the Language Hub is via a home school referral and panel process.
The LHUB panel meets termly to consider referrals and allocate places.
If your child is not successful in securing a place at the LHUB after panel, a letter will be sent to parents/carers and home school to advise why the referral was refused and to advise on n ext steps.
If your child is successful in securing a place at the LHUB after panel, a letter will be sent to parents/carers and home school to advise that the referral has been successful. Then your child's LHUB class teacher will make contact to say hello and arrange a LHUB star date and transition timetable for your child. Home school will be kept fully informed of the transition process.
At this point you may need to apply for transport to Northwood - see the link below for more information on this.
All LHUB staff work hard to build effective relationships with our children and families.
Whilst in the LHUB your child will be assessed regularly by an NHS Speech and Language Therapist/ Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.
LHUB teachers will have regular meetings with home school teaching staff to ensure we work together all and home school understands the progress that your child is making.
Any statutory assessments that need to be completed (phonics screening, EYFSP, KS2 SATS) remain the responsibility of your child's home school. Northwood LHUB staff will support home schools to make statutory assessment judgements but are not responsible for the collection / management of this data.
